Dhaka 2nd Jan., 2012. Our hats off to Professor Maqsudul Alam at the University of Hawaii, Manoa campus. The entire community of biotechnologists offer their heartiest congratulations to him on being the first to publish along with his associates sequencing of the entire genome of the rubber tree, Hevea brasiliensis in the most recent issue of BMC Genomics. He has already headed three teams: the first responsible for unraveling the genomic sequence of Hawaiian papaya varieties, the second on Macrophomina phaseolina – the stem rot fungus that sometimes kills the entire jute crop in a field and the third on the jute genome nearly ready for publication. Please read his latest achievement in today’s GNOBB website.
